Hints & Tips
When growing with clay pebbles:
Use the flood drippers
When plants first go into the system feed 1 to 3x a day.
As plants grow, increase the number of feeds up to a maximum of 6x per day or use a controller to set shorter but more frequent feeds to maximise oxygenation and nutrient uptake. Plants under lights will take up water at a greater rate than they take up nutrient. Over time the EC of the solution will rise.
Top up the tank with half strength nutrient solution, check EC and add extra nutrient if required. Then adjust pH level and perform a solution change every 2-3 weeks to keep the pH and EC balanced.
When growing with rockwool cubes:
Use the arrow drippers
When plants first go into the system feed 2x a day.
As plants grow, increase the number of feeds up to a maximum of 5x per day or use a controller to set shorter but more frequent feeds to maximise oxygenation and nutrient uptake.
Top up the tank with near full strength nutrient solution before the level in the tank drops below the pump. Check EC and add extra nutrient if required. Then adjust pH and perform a solution change every 2-3 weeks to keep the pH and EC balanced.
When growing with soil or coco:
Use the arrow drippers When plants first go into the system feed once a day.
Then adjust pH level and perform a solution change every 2-3 weeks to keep the pH and EC balanced.
Use a cleaning product, like Canna D-Block, to prevent dripper blockage.
Remember:
The amount of feed periods that a plant requires will largely depend on environmental conditions – light, humidity and temperature. No feeding schedule is set in stone, growers need to watch their plants for signs of over or under feeding and adjust the feeds accordingly.
